Annotation The influence of three amino acids on the hydroxyapatite formation in vitro under mild condition was investigated. The mineral obtained was studied by transmission electron microscopy and powder X-ray diffraction. The experiments suggest that the addition of these amino acids has a significant effect on the phase composition, crystal size and lattice microstrains of the resulting calcium phosphate mineral.
