Annotation The accurate expression for the cluster expansion of the configuration integral of interacting particles is considered in the paper. The investigations of this expression indicate the beginning of the gas-liquid transition at the singularity points of the isothermal compressibility. It has also been shown that the adequacy boundaries of the virial equation of state correspond to these points, but not the singularity points of virial series. The inappropriate behavior of the cluster expansion has been discovered at the high density regimes, which correspond to the liquid and solid states that may be related to the infinite limits of the cluster integrals, i.e. their independency on density.
