Annotation The results of anatase/brookite nanocomposite hydrothermal synthesis are presented. The influence of the synthesis conditions on the structure and morphology of the obtained materials is investigated. The model of anatase and brookite nucleation is proposed. The mechanism of ammonium and sodium ions effect on the phase transformation in H2Ti2O5•H2O / anatase / brookite system is considered. The interpretation of nanocomposites phase content as a function of the sodium ions concentrations was done. The synthesis conditions influence on the titania averaged bandgap energies was studied.
