The design of a tunable Add Drop Filter (ADF) based on photonic crystal is proposed in this work, which is revealed as one of the most promising technologies for Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks. By using the Fullwave tool of the Rsoft CAD program, we simulated a photonic crystal ring resonator model similar to the basic one. The analytical methods Plane Wave Expansion (PWE) and 2D Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) were used to perform simulations and to test the optical properties of the system. Simulation results made it possible to implement a model of a highly selective tunable photonic crystal ring resonator with an extraction rate of approximately 98 % and an area of about 100 m2, which is compatible with the intended integrated optics.
