Journal history

History of the "Journal Nano- and Electronic Physics" began with the establishment of the scientific journal "Bulletin of the Sumy State University" in 1994. At that time the journal was published twice a year and consisted of five sections:

  • Natural Sciences: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanics;
  • Machine-Building, New Technologies;
  • Automatics, Electronics, Instrument-Making Industry;
  • Biology, Medicine;
  • Economics, Social Sciences and Humanities.

Rector of the Sumy State University, Professor Kovalev Igor Oleksandrovych was the Editor-in-chief of the journal, and Vice Rector on the research affairs, Associate Professor Khvorost Volodymyr Andriyovych was the Deputy Editor-in-chief.

Formation and evolution of the Sumy State University was accompanied by the confident development of its main scientific edition. Popularity of the journal among universities and scientific institutions grew and publications of the authors from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Cherkasy, Ternopil, Donetsk became more regular. Therefore, the Journal's size increased substantially and since 2001 it was published 12 times a year. At that time the Journal consisted of six series:

  • Physics, Mathematics, Mechanics;
  • Engineering Sciences (Machine-Building) ;
  • Engineering Sciences (Automatics, Electronics, Instrument-Making Industry);
  • Medicine;
  • Economics;
  • Philology.

In 2007 all the series were transformed into the independent journals named as:

  • "Bulletin of the Sumy State University. Series Physics, Mathematics, Mechanics";
  • "Bulletin of the Sumy State University. Series Engineering Sciences";
  • "Bulletin of the Sumy State University. Series Medicine";
  • "Bulletin of the Sumy State University. Series Economics";
  • "Bulletin of the Sumy State University. Series Philology Sciences".

Dean of the Physical and Technical Faculty of the Sumy State University, Professor Vorobjov Gennadiy Saveliyovych was the Editor-in-chief of the journal "Bulletin of the Sumy State University. Series Physics, Mathematics, Mechanics". And Head of the Applied Physics Chair, Professor Protsenko Ivan Yuhymovych was the Deputy Editor-in-chief of the journal. The journal was published twice a year.

Further evolution of the "Bulletin of the Sumy State University. Series Physics, Mathematics, Mechanics" and simultaneous development of the Physical scientific groups formed in the University provided the prerequisites for creation of the new specialized scientific journal with a well-defined topic area. And after substantial analytical work the Editorial Staff of the "Bulletin of the Sumy State University. Series Physics, Mathematics, Mechanics" decided to transform the journal, limit the subject area and increase the number of issues to four a year.

The renewed edition got the name "Journal Nano- and Electronic Physics" and Head of the Applied Physics Chair, Professor Protsenko Ivan Yuhymovych became the Editor-in-chief of this Journal.

The Editorial Staff was essentially changed within the renewal process, and both the famous scientists (from abroad as well as from Ukraine) and young specialists were included into the Editorial Board. In order to broaden the Journal's audience the translation of Ukrainian and Russian articles into English was started. Considerable attention was focused on the editing and design part of the publishing process. In accordance with the modern standards the Journal's web-site and the articles' template were developed. The performance level of print and electronic versions of the Journal is substantially increased. Taking care of the Journal's authors, the Editorial Office utterly simplified the manuscript submission procedure and made it absolutely free.

The Editorial Staff invites the scientists to the active collaboration and hopes that the renewal Journal as well as its precursor will find both the new authors and grateful readers.
